Childbirth

• While maternity leave lasts 16 weeks (4 weeks before pregnancy and 12 weeks after), your employer is only obliged to pay you for the first 8 weeks.
• Fathers are now also entitled to share 1 week out of the 16 weeks.
• They buy a prenatal package and a delivery package.

Health care

• Has an efficient and widespread system of health care. 
• It is also renowned for its world-class health infrastructure, technological advancements in the health-care industry, expert doctors and specialists.
• Every working person in Singapore is required by Singaporean law to make a payment to Medisave (a type of health insurance) These funds are used to pay for for the contributor's hospital expenses, as well as their dependents.

Child care

• Children are brought along in most situations except business and very formal events.
  
• There are childcare centers, but many are very expensive.

Foods

Culture

This population of Singapore is a combination  of many complementary ethic groups, composed of 77% Chinese, 14% Malay, 8% Indians, 1% Eurasians, and some others of another descent. Although these racial groups still remain individual – for instance, in celebrating their own festivals and religious events – they open-heartedly share and celebrate other cultures, too.

Holidays/ Celebrations

• Major festivals include Hari Raya Puasa, Deepavali and Chinese New Year in which most families welcome everyone (friends, relatives and visitors from other ethnic groups) to their home to share in celebrations. 
• These are very colorful events which are centered around religion, age-old myths, and family traditions.
